Count Scarlioni has the Doctor, Romana and Duggan locked in his basement but the trio manage to escape and learn of the Count's experiments with time travel. Even more surprising are his multiple genuine copies of the Mona Lisa.

Travelling back in time to 1505 Florence in search of Leonardo da Vinci, the Doctor is surprised to instead find Count Scarlioni under a different name. Back in 1979, Romana and Duggan attempt to stop the Count's heist but arrive too late.

Count Scarlioni reveals his true form as Scaroth, the last of the Jagaroth and uses his time machine to go back in time and rewrite history. The Doctor, Romana and Duggan take to the Tardis in a race against time to stop him.

The Robots of Death, Part Three
Hearing about a man who grew up only around robots and who has threatened to start a robot revolution, and who may be aboard the sandminer under an assumed name, the Doctor takes D.84 to seek out a possible secret workshop where he would be restructuring robot programming. Meanwhile, as one crew member suffers a complete mental breakdown, reprogrammed robots are ordered to kill all remaining humans.

The Doctor returns to Gallifrey to become the President of the High Council of Time Lords. But Leela realizes that the Doctor is acting out of character.

Returning to the medieval planet Peladon (50 years after "The Curse of Peladon") The Doctor and Sarah find King Peladon's daughter Queen Thalira has inherited the throne and the galactic Federation is at war with Galaxy Five and The Federation requires the mineral Trisilicate that will end the war. Only to discover the miners led by the mad rebel Ettis are rebelling and refusing to work, as the ghost of the loyal best Aggedor is frightening and killing off Miners, only to discover the ghost of Aggedor is a holographic projection and the culprits are a task-force of renegade Ice Warriors led by Commander Azaxyr and traitorous federation mining engineer Eckersley who have betrayed the Federation to Galaxy Five.

The Doctor is rescued by Gebek, prompting him to try and help the miners, but his advice results in Ettis launching another attack on the armoury.

The Monster of Peladon, Part Three
The Doctor and Sarah pacify Aggedor and the Doctor encourages the Queen to make peace with the miners, but Ortron soon has him under arrest again.

The Monster of Peladon, Part Four
The Ice Warriors take control of the planet and force the miners to return to work but Ettis takes the opportunity to try and destroy the citadel.

The Monster of Peladon, Part Five
Sarah and Alpha Centauri decide to try and alert the Federation to what the Ice Warriors are up to but first they have to escape from the throne room.
