When the alcalde sabotages Victoria's plan to bring the Indians survival supplies by forbidding all citizens to enter the Indian land, the Yankee Joshua Barnes steps in to drive her cart. Zorro prevents a lancer shooting Joshua. Barnes buys some De la Vega land to become a farmer, but the alcalde has that annulled because he's a foreigner and has him arrested for refusing to prove his loyalty to the crown by catching Zorro.
