When Leslie finds out he is a suspect for having given Chandler the gun, he calls for his security chief Stan Howard. Adrienne announces she wants to withdraw from Peyton's plan, but Peyton blackmails her into staying, announcing she is in Peyton Place to destroy Steven and Betty's marriage. He claims to have the letter her husband Philip sent him shortly before his death, which she would not want publicized.
